Ubisoft has announced a significant free title update for its action game, Assassin’s Creed Mirage, scheduled for release later in 2025. The surprise announcement was made on August 25th via the official Assassin’s Creed X (formerly Twitter) account, promising an exciting expansion for players on PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, and PC.

A Return to Roots and New Adventures

Released in 2023 to commemorate the 15th anniversary of the celebrated franchise, Assassin’s Creed Mirage was widely praised by fans as a welcome return to the series’ stealth-action origins, moving away from the sprawling open-world RPG format of more recent entries. The game, which follows the journey of a young thief named Basim as he evolves into a Master Assassin in 9th-century Baghdad, has been a popular title and is also available through the Xbox Game Pass and Ubisoft+ subscription services.

New Arabian Setting and Gameplay Enhancements

The upcoming free update is set to introduce a completely new storyline with additional missions set in 9th-century AlUla, a region in modern-day Saudi Arabia. Alongside the new narrative content, Ubisoft confirmed that the update will include gameplay improvements that will affect both the main game and the new expansion area. The company emphasized that all of this new content will be delivered to players entirely free of charge.

Future of the Franchise

While a specific release date beyond “later in 2025” has not yet been disclosed, the announcement signals continued momentum for the franchise, especially following the strong sales of the latest installment, Assassin’s Creed Shadows. Fans are encouraged to stay tuned for further details regarding the Mirage update as Ubisoft continues to build upon the enduring success of the series.
