The fourth installment in the Mafia series, developed by Hangar 13 and published by 2K Games, appears to finally have a release date. Although the date was quickly removed from official channels, it is expected to be officially confirmed in early May.
For fans of the Mafia franchise, things are heating up. At the end of last year, 2K Games announced that Mafia: The Old Country—the fourth chapter in the action series—was slated for a summer 2025 launch. Now, the exact date seems to have surfaced accidentally, before being retracted from official announcements.
Expected Release Date for Mafia: The Old Country
Last Thursday, Hangar 13 and 2K Games revealed that Mafia: The Old Country would be featured at PAX East, a major gaming event held annually in Boston, Massachusetts. On May 8, the developer will host a panel dedicated to the upcoming title. Fans will be able to watch the discussion live via a YouTube stream at 8 PM local time in Germany.
During the panel, Hangar 13’s Studio President, Game Director, and Cinematics Director will dive into the past, present, and future of the Mafia franchise. They will reflect on the series’ 23-year history and answer questions from fans. Many expect that the official release date for Mafia: The Old Country will finally be confirmed at this event.
The Date May Have Already Been Revealed
Despite the secrecy, the release date may have already slipped out. According to a Latin American post on Steam announcing the game’s participation in PAX East, players noticed that the release was listed as August 8, 2025. This aligns with the previously announced summer 2025 window mentioned during The Game Awards 2024.
The post was later edited to remove the date, but not before eagle-eyed users spotted it. Twitter user @videotechuk_ captured a screenshot of the original post, preserving the leaked information before it was taken down.
While nothing is officially confirmed just yet, all signs point to an early August release for Mafia: The Old Country—a detail that fans are likely to see validated during the PAX East panel.
