In a significant shift for its handheld strategy, Take-Two Interactive has indefinitely paused development on the Borderlands 4 port for the Nintendo Switch 2. The company confirmed the move during its Q3 2026 earnings presentation, marking a sharp pivot from the original roadmap. The port was initially slated to hit shelves on October 3, 2025—just weeks after the game’s global launch on other platforms—but had been in limbo since an indefinite delay was announced last September.
Speaking to Variety, Take-Two described the move as a “difficult decision,” noting that the studio’s current priority is delivering post-launch content and optimizing the game for existing players. While the publisher emphasized that they are still collaborating closely with Nintendo, the Borderlands 4 Switch 2 SKU is effectively off the table for the foreseeable future. This aligns with earlier comments from developer Gearbox, which cited the need for additional polish and better alignment with cross-save features. As it stands, the game’s official content roadmap focuses heavily on paid and free story DLC, with no mention of additional platform ports.
GTA VI Remains on Track
While Borderlands faces hurdles, the outlook for Take-Two’s crown jewel, Grand Theft Auto VI, appears much more stable. The publisher reiterated that the blockbuster title is still locked in for a November 19, 2026 release. It’s been a long road for the highly anticipated sequel, which saw its window shift from Fall 2025 to May 2026, before settling on the current late-2026 date.
Despite the history of delays, Take-Two projected confidence in the earnings call, revealing that Rockstar Games is gearing up to kick off a massive marketing campaign this summer. The franchise remains a financial powerhouse; Grand Theft Auto V, originally released back in 2013, has now surpassed a staggering 225 million units sold, proving the series is still a massive cash cow as the company prepares for its next major rollout.
Epic Games Store Kicks Off 2026 Winter Sale
shifting gears to the PC market, Epic Games has launched its Winter Sale 2026 immediately following its annual “Year in Review.” The storefront has plenty of reasons to celebrate, reporting that player spending has surged to a new high of $400 million—a robust 57 percent increase compared to previous figures.
Looking to capitalize on this momentum, the new sale offers discounts on thousands of titles and runs through February 23 at 5:00 PM. The lineup features price cuts on major AAA hits and indie darlings alike, including Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales, Black Myth: Wukong, Herdling, and Viewfinder. As is standard for the platform, the Epic Rewards program applies to these purchases, offering players cashback incentives to keep the digital shelves moving during the colder months.
